Funny Girl

Emma Rose

My little Rose...here's what she's up to these days...
She loves her "Sopheese" (Sophie)
Loves to hear David & Goliath 2-8 times before she goes to sleep
Very concerned for other's owie's, wants to kiss them and make them better
Sings "Twinkle, Twinkle" to Sophie when she's crying
Her teachers, babysitters, and friends from church are regularly informing me of her HUGE appetite (i.e. most kids ate 2 fig newtons, Emma had 5 and asked for more.)
Favorite evening activity: riding in the jogger stroller with Chris for 3 miles
Must have her purse and baby before leaving the house
Favorite foods: waffles, granola bars, fries, blueberries, salad, and chips & sauce (salsa)
Loves to dance and walk on her tip toes like a gymnast
LOVES the water...pool, puddles, the bath...
Before a waitress can introduce herself, Emma orders her own drink and meal
Totally runs like a girl
"Has never met a stranger"
We love you sweet Bear and we love getting to know your heart! Jesus has BIG plans for you little girl and YOU are precious in HIS sight!
Much Love,
Da Da, Mommy, & Sophie

Back to Texas...for a GOOD reason!

Well...we packed up the girls and headed back to Texas for the third time in 2 months and it was well worth it!  Chris' 6 year old godson Gage was diagnosed with leukemia 2 years ago.  2 years ago today Gage wasn't feeling well and was unexplainably tired.  On their way out of town, the Holmes' family stopped by the pediatrician's office for a quick check-up.  Late that night, the doctor called and said he was coming over and needed to talk.  Blake and Rebecca would hear their little one had cancer.  Since then, it has been a more than challenging journey of treatments, visits to Children's Medical, illness, reactions to steroids and chemo.  Gage even lost his hair but handled it like a champ!
Blake and Rebecca's faith in our Heavenly Father is astounding.  They have handled this with such grace!  Rebecca truly is superwoman...she takes exceptional care of Gage and their other 3 children as a stay-at-home mom.  She truly is a Proverbs 31 woman and the LORD is pleased with her!

This past Saturday was the 2nd annual Sammy's BBQ fundraiser for families at Children's Medical center in Dallas hosted by the Holmes' family.  In the past 2 years, the Holmes' family and friends have raised over $175,000!  Praise God!  We had a wonderful time seeing Gage run around.  Blake was telling me this was a good week for Gage and he is feeling well.  By this time next year Gage's doctors have said the cancer should be in remission.  Gage, we are believing the Lord for His healing and complete restoration over your precious body in the name of JESUS!

Psalm 62:2 He ALONE is my rock and my salvation; HE is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

I was only able to grab a few pictures of the girls at our table!  It was a busy night and we had our hands full, especially once the girls' bedtimes came and went!  They are troopers for sure!

Sophie was eyeing my plate and each bite I took!  Sweet girl!

Emma had 2 brownies after her dinner...how can you say 'no' to those big blue eyes?

We love you Gage and we will never stop praying for you!

Happy Father's Day Doke!

Happy Father's Day to my sweet husband of almost 5 years! Today is bitter sweet for me...but the Lord has been faithful to restore my joy, bring beauty for ashes, and sustain me. Our Abba is a father to the fatherless and He is showing me how tender His love is for me!
To my husband, I feel so blessed to be co-laboring with you as we raise our precious baby girls together! Our girls are beyond blessed to have you for a daddy! They will always be loved, cherished, adored, pursued, and protected by you! We love you so much and couldn't dream of a better Da Da!

Much Love,

Your Girls

Chris with Sophie Lynn...talking sweet to his baby girl, telling her mommy would be there soon to hold her after surgery.

Chris talking to Emma Rose...telling her Adrian Peterson was going pro and in the years to come she'll get to watch football with daddy!

About Daddy...

~When Emma wakes up in the morning, she asks to go in the stroller with Chris, he takes her in the jogger stroller every week and she LOVES it!

~Sophie loves to cuddle her daddy in his neck and she gets so excited to see him!

~Whenever Emma sees OU logos on anything, she screams "Da da!" and begins looking for him.

~He patiently watched The Holiday and Devil Wears Prada the first 6 weeks the girls were born at least 50 times during the night feedings.

We love you so much!
~Much Love, Bear & Lynn

Oh how we love Interurban...
Whenever we drive by the Urb (as Chris calls it), Emma says "I want chips and sauce (salsa), please!"  Spoken like a true Doke!  We make it to the Urb once a week or so.  I am currently trying everything on the menu until I've had everything.  Emma told the waitress "I want apple juice and pizza, please" before she was even asked!  We had a great time with the Boyd's and Waggs.
Dinner was extra pleasant because the girls randomly took 4 hour naps this afternoon instead of the usual 2 hours...they still look sleepy here!  Love you Bear & Lynn!

Close Ups

I am tickled pink about my girls today...
I'm sick and taking it easy today and since there's no "sick days'' for mommies, my girls were my little magnets today!  So I grabbed my camera for some close ups since we were home most of the day.

Sweet Sophie is so tender...I can't believe she's almost 7 months!

NCC Staff Retreat

Kerri Grigor, me, and Beth Primrose at Red Rock for dinner...our hubbies are on the other side of the table!

I can't believe I've been on staff for Norman Community Church now for over a year!  If you would have told me in high school that one day I'd be in ministry working with Gerod Grigor (MCA...We Believe!) I wouldn't have believed you!  I am so blessed to be working with our wonderful parents and children, along side others who want our children to encounter Jesus!
The Lord has placed on my heart the desire for children to know and experience who they are in Jesus and who He created them to be!  We want to see the Lord raise up an army of warriors!  For our children to be warriors who passionately pursue Jesus with each other and personally, to lay hands and pray for the sick and see them healed, to boldly share the Good News with others, and to be mighty vessels for Jesus!

We had a wonderful night together and I feel so blessed to have this job!

Psalm 126:3 The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with JOY!
Our precious Sophie Lynn is such a precious gift to us!  She came to us during a difficult season and has made us smile ever since!  These pictures were taken by my sweet friend Shannon Ho and I wish I had an ounce of her talent!  Shannon is a dear friend of mine and it's amazing how she can capture such sweet moments!

Sophie is now 6 months old!  She's turning over front to back, back to front!  She loves banana, rice cereal, and squash (just like Emma!).  As much as she adores Chris, she's a mommy's girl.  Our favorite thing about Sophie is she squeaks like a pterodactyl instead of cooing.  Funny girl!
We are ever so grateful to the LORD for her precious life and joy!  I can't help but smile every time I look at her!  I can't wait to see who she will become and the plans He has for her!
We love you Squeaks!

Family Vacation

Here are the only 2 pictures I took of our family vacation to New Braunfels, TX!  I know, I know!  My arms are still recovering from holding a baby or a toddler for 5 days!  Thank goodness my wonderful sister in law Joleen took lots of pics...that I will post soon enough!
To sum up the week:
We are forever grateful to the Hartsock's for loaning us a dvd player for the 8 hour drive!
Emma was fearless on the slides and pools at Schlitterbaun water parks...fearless!
We consumed more pizza, ice cream, and fried chicken than I'd like to admit!
It was a blessing to have all 10 cousins together...lots of giggling!
Sharing a bed with Miss Rose consisted of me waking up to being punch, kicked, and talked to!
Sophie Lynn was a champ and took lots of naps on my stomach!
My sweet husband did a terrific job planning everything!

More to come...

First Blog Ever!

Hello friends & family!
I am attempting to keep up with a blog as so many of our loved ones
are living in other states and cities.  I've been following
many of your blogs and finally decided that I will
look back on this and be glad I took the time to capture precious
moments with our kids and each other!
