Summer. It's coming.
And we can hardly wait!
This past week felt like a delicious appetizer for the feast that is to come. We happily exchanged in the kitchen the inside hours of dress up and play doh creations and instead, indulged on finger foods of hours spent at the park, going on walks, and playing outside. We tasted what's coming...days spent outside in the sun with smells of fresh cut grass and sunscreen, sounds of lawn mower hums and chirping birds. The feast of summer is on the horizon.
We're ready. So ready. This will be the first summer for our littlest princess and already she loves her time outside. She thinks the wind is just for her and she says thanks with the sweetest laugh.
It seems in Oklahoma that we have 2 weeks of spring and then summer...immediately into the heat. So true.
It's coming. The mornings when the sun creeps in early and the little ones stir even earlier in their beds because the day just can't wait. Afternoons when we trickle in from the pool and draw blinds closed in quest for cold sheets and the best nap ever, never mind the work needing to be done and the to-do list that runs off the page. Nights like tonight when dinner is thrown on the grill while we chat and listen to our littles play together, listen to them laugh, create side walk chalk masterpieces, and offer sweet greetings to passing neighbors on the path.
