Cool temperatures and much needed rain have made their grand entrance, unlocking all of the treasures and traditions this sweet season brings.
And that means Italian Chicken Soup.
This recipe calls for lots of dicing and chopping but it's well worth it.
Fall makes for babies playing at the park without sweating and having faces that turn into cute red tomatoes. Spending time with friends and feeling crisp breezes.

We stayed inside a bit in the midst of taking and dropping off babes to and from school, with a sprinkling of ballet classes, errands, grocery store runs, laundry, cleaning, and some You've Got Mail...bouquets of sharpened pencils.
I can't get enough of this baby in her tu tu. It just about wrecks me.
And she just looks older and more like a young lady every day.
Dark, gray clouds brought rain showers throughout the day, so we settled in and cozied up in the nest.
Usually if you coop up some Doke girls long enough, we find ourselves in the kitchen, whipping up some goodness.
At this time of year I've been known to turn everything in pumpkin flavors...pumpkin bread, pumpkin pancakes, oatmeal pumpkin cookies, pumpkin dip.
But today we spotted a bottle of molasses and knew instantly.
We must have Ginger Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing.
We used this recipe for our cupcakes.
The frosting is super easy and I recommend it on any accessible carbohydrate.
1 stick butter (room temperature)
8 oz. cream cheese (room temperature)
2 c. powdered sugar
1 teas. vanilla
- cream the butter and cream cheese, throw in sugar and vanilla
- whip away until you wanna stick your face in it...which Sophie tried
- sometimes I shove some frosting in a ziplock bag and squirt it out
In my opinion, any recipe that calls for Crisco is a keeper.
Bunny is crawling. I mean I called Chris in tears and practically yelled to him that she's for real crawling. Shimmying her little sweet body all over this house. If sister sees something she wants, she's on it. I haven't gotten a picture yet because I'm too busy screaming and cheering like a nut.
Well deserved baby girl, well done.
Which means more days inside and more goodness to be served up in the kitchen.
Fall is here.
