For Bunny

Bunny turned one last week.  We quit nursing, jumped on board with whole milk, and mama cried a little...okay a lot.
And we lavishly loved on that baby like she was goin' out of style.

Baby was due for a partay.

Chris' work schedule is a bit busy right now as Sooner football is in full swing.  So we opted for a little birthday celebration at one of our favorite spots.

The park.
Complete with sweet treats, picnic dinners, our friends, and a bunny cake.

Thank you Pinterest for the idea!  I hear Rolos and pecans are tasty too.
With your first babe, their 1st birthday party is the first time they've ever tasted such goodness.  And part of you hesitates at the amount of sugar they're ingesting and you swear tomorrow will hold nothing but fruit and veggies for that child.

With your second, for the most part, it's the same story, second verse.  Maybe they've sampled something tame like a blueberry muffin.  Maybe a piece of a cookie.
By the time that third baby makes it to their party (and I'm guessing it's the same with #4, #5...) they know exactly what a cake is, in addition to other sweets.  And they divide and conquer that sucker.

Sister saw this cake and knew it was hers for the taking.  Handful by handful.

We chatted and watched our babies play.  I remember a season when everyone had expectant bellies full of treasure and promise.

And now they're all soaking in the sunshine under blue skies and cool evening breezes, having their own conversations and interactions.

Sweet Gracie Grigor.

Precious Brently, gettin' her some goodness.

Millie Jean and the girls cheering on a football practice.  Hilarious.

We've had a fabulous week and the weekend ahead holds agendas to our liking.  College football, the hubs will be home, family walks after the continuation to our welcome of fall with Apple Cider Pancakes drenched in syrup and butter.  But not just yet.

For today, I smile and my heart swells.  She belongs to me.

Tonight I will tuck her in with a thousand kisses, sing to her, and she'll coo right back at me.
I will whisper in her ear that she is heaven sent.  The perfect bunny for this family.
As much as she is ours, she feels like she's yours too.  All of our friends here and far away.
So many of you have prayed and contended for her.  My heart is overwhelmed with gratitude.
Our Alice Elizabeth is loved.

Sunshine, delicious sweets, laughter, celebration, family, friends, and the Lord's provision of your sweet life.
All for you, Bunny.

Happy birthday, baby.
